Is Humboldt State Park or Redwood National Park better for Camping? Hi im planning to go camping but have no idea which one to choose. I don't know if Redwood national park is open late october, it's a little more inconvenient to get this one. However, I wanted to know which one is more fun/interesting. I might have to settle for Humboldt.
Is it better to take highway 1 or 101 when traveling up the N. Cali. coast from Napa to Redwood National Park? I will be traveling in Northern California this summer and I'm looking for some good advice from knowledgeable people. Any tips that could add to the enjoyment and ease of travel would be greatly appreciated. From San Francisco I will be traveling to Napa and then on to Redwood National Park, Chico, Penn Valley, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, and then back to San Francisco. Additionally if you know of any great parks to camp at please share.
Need info on Redwood National Park? I am on a road trip and will be visiting next week. I would welcome any info on camping, hiking, different parks of the park, how long to stay, etc.
solo camping in redwood forest? This summer I'm taking an overnight trip to redwood forest national park. Does anyone know of any risks inherent to the park? is there a history of animal attacks, exposure deaths, etc.? Thanks for the help! Additional advice on solo camping in coastal forest climates is also appreciated.
What part of the Redwood Forest is best for lodging/camping and exploring? I'm trying to plan a vacation to the Redwood Forest for Spring Break and I'm looking for suggestions on the best places to stay in the National Park. I don't know much about the area, but I'm looking for something that will be right in the Park itself with lots of hiking and exploring at easy access. I've heard there is also a beach area, so that could be a possibility as well. Nothing crazy expensive, but in the $100-200/night range for hotels. Camping is also a possibility. I just need to know the best areas to look that offer the most breath taking scenery. I want this to be an unforgettable experience! Thank you.
Which California National Forest would be great for camping? I live In Los Angeles California and my friends and I are planning a camping trip in April. I just want to hear some of your opinions about the National Forests. What are your experiences at these places. We really do not care how far we drive, we just want a good feeling of adventure. We like Redwood National Forest because of the huge ancient Redwood trees, but we are wondering if there are any other places that are just as nice. I am sure all the parks Have there beauty. So I would appreciate if i can get your experiences in any of these parks for those that have been camping there before. We will be camping with Tents just the stereotypical camping scenario, nothing fancy.
California Road Trip for two teen best friends? My best friend and I want to go on a vacation together. We're both currently 18, but we still need time to save for the trip so it will be another year or so before we take the trip. We live on Long Island in New York and want to experience a dramatically different landscape and we think California is just the ticket. I have already done some research and have picked out a few spots I definitely want to check out, but several questions remain about how much time I should dedicate to each destination and the economics of the whole endeavor - we're both students and are on a relatively tight budget. I know we wont be able to do everything I've picked and I'd like some advice on what to do and what to skip. We'd like to balance serene natural experiences with exciting city adventures. As far as nightlife goes, we not into dance clubs and would prefer live music venues. Some suggestions for each city listed would be greatly appreciated. We love rock and alternative music. I also have an obsession with french fries. If you know of any great places for french fries along our journey please share them with me. When we go to the national parks we would camp but when in the bigger cities we could also use some suggestions for cool hotels that arent too pricey. Here are the places I would like to visit. San Diego Torrey Pines State Reserve Los Angeles Channel Islands National Park Hearst Castle Big Sur Monterey Santa Cruz San Francisco Point Reyes National Seashore Yosemite Lake Tahoe Mendocino Arcata Redwood National Park In the daytime we would like to check out parks, zoos, art galleries and museums, as well as architectural landmarks and interesting neighborhoods. Any points of interest that you could contribute for any of these destinations would be greatly appreciated, I'm just trying to gather as much information as possible.
Should I purchase an RV or trade in my minivan for a truck and pull a trailer camper? This isn't in the near future, but the next time my husband deploys, I'm thinking about homeschooling the kids for a year and traveling the country, camping in or near national parks. I want them to see the redwoods and Yellowstone and all that. I haven't thought much about it; I'm just starting to get serious about it. Any thoughts? Also, who wants to let me camp in the driveway for a week?

Where can i learn about the wilderness of the pacific north west? Im planning a prolonged hiking/camping trip to the redwood forest in northern californina. ill be limited by budget on what i can do. but for all intensive purposes lets say i want to inexpesivly and throughly prepare for hiking hunting and living among the red woods for 2 weeks. some specific things i would like answered: are there, guides WITH PICTURES to wildlife in this region (edible) small game , fish and plants( i plan on carrying this so nothing bigger then a bible)? how should i dress, (probably going late august) does it rain much, is it cold, will it snow? do i need to pay like fishing or camping or hiking fees to the national parks district? are their any things that i have not yet thought of taking or planing for (for instance if you come to Missouri bring a sleeping mat of some kind, this place it littered with pebbles and gravel, ive not ben to califoria i do not know)?
Great forests to go camping in California, need ideas please...? My husband and i are looking to go camping the end of this month. We were trying to find a campground in I guess whats called a national forest or redwoods..etc. A year ago we stayed in Guernville's Austin Creek SRA and we enjoyed it alot since we could see the HUGE trees as well as a moderate drive to the coast/Jenner. Are there any parks similar to this closer to the bay area? We are coming from the Antioch Area and do not wish to travel very far. Any help is appreciated! I love camping Im just not familiar with redwoods and forests etc!
Year long backpacking trip: permits and laws? I am a student in California and I'm planning a one year backpacking trip from Mexico border to Canada, and need to know what laws will restrict me and what permits/licenses I need. Will be following california coastline until Redwoods area, after that we should be staying pretty close to Pacific Crest Trail but not all the time. Camping on beaches? Camping with a hearing dog? (one of the campers is slightly deaf and she wants her dog with her, what are the laws for bringing him into state/national parks/forests? Is Yosemite going to be a problem for her? He's very quiet and professionally trained). Campfires? Is there a pass that will give me access to all public parks/forests/etc.? Or do I seriously have to pay each and every camping fee for every stinking camp ground we stay in on the way? If we end up getting a fine for something like camping in an undesignated area or whatever, can I wait until the end of the trip to handle the court appearance/fees/etc.? Is there any way to get some of the fees wavered? Like attending classes and getting permits or something? We aren't planning on doing any hunting/fishing along the way. And is there a good resource for getting state/ county maps with tons of trails on them? Getting a little tired of using fifty different maps and books....

Spanish speakers who know proper grammar!! Please read over this and give feedback!? Please read over this paragraph and tell me if the sentences have the correct tenses, correct vocabulary, and overall make sense. Please give me clear feedback on what I should change and correct.
