Which Greek island to go with girlfriend? Secluded, culture, relaxed? Please help!?
I am looking to spend a week away on one of the Greek islands with my girlfriend but haven't a clue which one! We are also on a tight budget but have specific requirements and would appreciate some help. What I would like: Quiet and secluded Beautiful scenery Local culture Good local and reasonably priced food Simple bars with good wine/ cold beer My ideal day will involved breakfast with a few people milling around A stroll to a quite beach for some relaxing in the sun and sea and afternoon bike ride Simple restaurant overlooking the sea with maybe 20 other guests Repeat as necessary till sufficiently relaxed. I want to avoid like the plague: Strips of cheesy bars Anything that attracts anything remotely like a stag or hen party Crowds of people sitting on rows of plastic furniture eating 'English Breakfast' from 'Joe's English Pub' I have looked at Thassos but after reading a few reviews of the Hotel we had planned on I'm not so sure it's great for couples. I'm 26 and my girlfriend older but I'm more Radio 4 than club 18-30.... Any help and ideas much appreciated.

- Mykonos is probably your best bet. (Whatever you do, DON'T take her to Lesbos) !
- I read about an island called Icaria. It seems beautiful and it's considered a "blue zone," meaning people live there longer. The pictures look nice and while I don't know a lot about the culture, you could probably read about it on Wikipedia or just find a website. It has a Mediterranean climate (wet winters, hot and dry summers) and for the most part, the people there are pretty healthy, they grow a lot of food and walk a lot of places. Sorry I don't know much about any other islands or a lot more about this one, but it's worth checking out. Have fun! :)
- I have just booked for Santorini with my boyfriend which we are really looking forward to. We were looking for exactly the same things and also on a budget. We have gone for Perissa which looks idyllic, the scenery looks fantastic, small bars and tavernas. We got a great deal booking with Olympic Holidays, just under £600 for the 2 of us!
- Corfu island may be your destination. You can get what you are asking and looking for in a number of places around the island. Thasos on the other hand is a quiet and beuatiful place There too you can get a number of your requirements.
- I'm going to Greece for 2 weeks this summer with my friend who is Greek. She has been there every summer for her whole life and all the islands. We are going to Mykonos for a few days because of the party scene and then we are going to Paros for a few days because it's what you described, just laid back, only Greek tourists. I would look into Paros if I were you. And Santonrini is all rocky, cliffs against the ocean, it's not "beachy"
