secluded beaches to spend a night on near santa barbara?
I am not looking for a campground, I would like to find a nice secluded beach to spend a night or two on. Preferably a little bit of a hike down to. Does anyone know of any spots that are somewhat like this? That is just to bad, what about any secluded beaches north of Santa Barbara all the way up the coast line. i feel like I have been to beaches when I was younger that were not patrolled or bum ridden.

- When we were there all the beaches were full of bums and drug addicts
- No but watch out for homeless people and the tide.
- Sorry to burst your fantasy, but the beaches are closed at night, and there are ordinances against camping on the beach. The homeless bums like to stay there and do drugs, but are routinely rousted by local police and county sheriffs. ---------- It doesn't matter how far you go up the coast, the story is pretty much the same. Cops patrol the coast with a vengeance, especially with the problems of illegals and the possibility of terrorists. Once you go north out of the populated areas, you get to Vandenburg AFB, where they are particularly sensitive. To the south, it's even more crowded and populated. If you don't remember night patrols as a kid, it's probably because you weren't camping illegally on the beach as a kid. And when you're a kid, a LOT goes on that you just aren't aware of. Besides, that was then and this is now. A lot has changed.
- you can not do this in CA with out being arrested
- You can try Nipomo, Pismo Beach & Shell Beach a couple of small towns north of S.B., or even Santa Maria a larger town north of Santa Barbara. It is a more working class town and you might get away with it there. If you go too far north it is too cold to sleep on the beach.
