  1. I would suggest renting a house on fire island (Long Islands south shore). It's mostly residential along the coast, except at the public beaches. I hope you're prepared to spend a fortune, by the way - for any private beach in NY. Congrats
  2. Yes! Cooper's Beach, New York In 1640, English colonists moved to the area now known as Southampton, making it one of the oldest settlements in New York. It's no secret that the beaches are gorgeous and the location posh. But for every chic detail Southampton and its beaches has to offer, it's got the history and culture to match. Cooper's Beach is located in Southampton Village, and, in addition to being one of the area's most popular stretches of sand, is also dotted with historic mansions along its shores. The beachfront ballroom for your reception catered by the club's exclusive caterer has windowed walls and glass doors that open to a wraparound deck with ocean and pool views. You and up to 200 guests can soak in the sea breezes. 3. I also live in Upstate NY. There really won't be many good beaches to have your wedding on. If you're envisioning white sand and waves, it ain't gonna happen in Upstate NY. You could always do a lakefront wedding. In the Adirondacks there are plenty of lakes, and the Finger Lakes region has some picturesque lakes as well.
  4. If you live in upstate NY, you and your guests will have to travel downstate for a private/semi-private beach. If you'd like to do that, your best bet would be on Long Island. You can check out Fire Island (South Shore) which is only accessible via ferry. In addition, you can check out the Southampton area which has beaches--most of which are private. Lastly, there is Shelter Island (between the North and South forks of Long Island) which has beaches too but again is only accessible via ferry. For any of those options you will need to talk to the town to check for permits and use. If anything, try to find a venue that is on the beach and has exclusive use of the beach which would probably save you money. Be prepared to spend a good deal of money though because private beach weddings in NY are pricey. Another option would be to stay closer to home and marry on the shores of one of the many lakes in upstate NY. That would be beautiful too and closer.
  5. Forget most of the Hamptons, too crowded, too expensive, and yeah try getting on Coopers Beach without being a resident. Really people. Real options for a beach wedding would be to find a catering hall on the beach. http://www.tierramar.com/ (In Westhampton) http://www.giorgiosatfoxhill.com/content.php (Baiting Hollow - North shore so it's a rocky beach) http://www.landsendweddings.com/ (Sayville) This place is awesome by the way. http://www.gurneysinn.com/ - Montauk. - bit of a hike but great beaches. These are just a few. There are tons more, and a bunch in Nassau county too. go to http://www.liweddings.com to find more.
