1. It's actually really depressing. Cloudy, cold and gray all the time. Unemployment is rampant. Place looks like it's falling apart. If money is no object I would recommend the Central California inland areas, like the Santa Ynez valley and the Pismo Beach/SLO area. Lots of land, fair weather, and near the coast.

3. It's pretty awful. I'm originally from Sacramento, but live on the north coast right now for school. I drove up to Crescent City last year for the 4th of July, just to check it out. All I saw was poverty and more tweakers than I usually see in Eureka. Not worth it.
