Traveling to Boracay?
I'm considering vacationing in Boracay during the holidays (last 2 weeks of December) and have the following questions - - What is the best way to get to Boracay from Taiwan? I've heard either fly to Manila and take a ferry to Boracay or fly directly to an airport closer to Boracay? - How is Boracay these days? The beautiful beach/sand is very well known but many fear that the island has gotten way too commercialized and croweded. Is it going to be very busy/crowded during Xmas holidays? - Loding options.. according to the online resource, the average rate seems to be affordable but most hotel/resort website show extremely high rates during the holidays (over $200 USD/night). Is this real? - How is Boracay compared to other beach destinations around the world such as Hawaii (Maui), Cancun Mexico or Maldives? - Heard Cebu is a nice beach destination in the Philippines? Is it recommended over Boracy? Any info is very much appreciated!!!

- I was in Boracay last november 27th to dec 4th,,I stayed at Fridays beach resort,,great place...great food,,good diving...it was fun and cool place....lots of bars everywhere and some out of the way..that i found to be cool..you can find a hole in the wall hotel for real cheap or stay where i stayed at 17,000pesos ($350usd) a night,,in the premium suite,,awesome place....there are better places than boracay its getting to commercialized as you say..and travel is super easy from terminal 3 in manila on seaair airlines..and then depending on where you stay they pick you up at airport,,Fridays beach resort also has little bungalow much cheaper than what had for as room..i was living like a king ,,but they pick you up at airport carry all your luggage...and in a nice aircon van to the resot where they greet you upon arrival with a nice lemon cocktail drink....the staff there are cool and i partied with them after work and took me to all the local joints....not a cool place if your single,,mostly all couples..and the local island girls well they just want your money...t
- I wouldn't suggest taking a ferry. If you wanted to go to Boracay, go to Manila and there will be two options to go to Caticlan (the nearest airport). 1. SeaAir : PHP 7,000 to 15,000, you get to Caticlan in 15 minutes. 2. Cebu Pacific : PHP 2,000 to PHP 5,000, you get to Caticlan in 1 and half hours. Boracay these days since it's lean season, is not too crowded. Plus the rainiy season is already starting, so attendance on the beach is depleting. It's more commercialized as to establishments and hotels. I stayed in a Boracay Regency last June or July it averaged USD 150 for 3D and 2N inclusive of all meals and round-trip transfers to/from the airport. It's not that bad, and the room was fabulous. Sorry I wouldn't know the other beaches in the world, but I would like to visit Maldives. Cebu has good beaches, but I would still go to Boracay. Good luck.
- - What is the best way to get to Boracay from Taiwan? I've heard either fly to Manila and take a ferry to Boracay or fly directly to an airport closer to Boracay? Fly to Manila and take a flight over to caticlan (closest airport) then a bus to Aklan (Boracay). They are supposed to be upgrading the airport now to accept international flights, but will it be ready in time is anyones guess. - How is Boracay these days? The beautiful beach/sand is very well known but many fear that the island has gotten way too commercialized and croweded. Is it going to be very busy/crowded during Xmas holidays? In my opinion it's way overdeveloped and commercialised. It will be very crowded/busy at Chrismastime. - Loding options.. according to the online resource, the average rate seems to be affordable but most hotel/resort website show extremely high rates during the holidays (over $200 USD/night). Is this real? Yes it's real. Christmas and Holy week are "super peak season" rates. - How is Boracay compared to other beach destinations around the world such as Hawaii (Maui), Cancun Mexico or Maldives? It soes not evan compare to the size and quality of the beaches in Hawaii, but it's not nearly as expensive either. - Heard Cebu is a nice beach destination in the Philippines? Is it recommended over Boracy? In my opinion the beaches at Cebu, Palawan and Bohol to name a few places are nice too. Put it this way, been to Boracay Beach 5 times and it was definately 4 times too many.
