Most secluded beaches in PR?
My husband and I are taking a trip to Puerto Rico in a few months, and I'm wanting to know what the most secluded, non-touristy beaches are? Obviously, everyone wants to find a beach that doesn't have a lot of other people on it, and I know that we won't be able to get away from EVERYONE, but what are some decent ones that you guys know of? I want to hit up Culebra, BTW, but I know that's probably a pretty touristy one.

- If you come in the winter months you will avoid most of the local crowds on the beaches. On the main island I would recommend Cerro Gordo in Vega Alta. This is right outside of Dorado and is a public beach, but in the winter it's near deserted. It's got white sand, and since it's located in a little cove it has calm waters. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mr_frankie/3361589024/ And since I live in this area I know that if you go past the main beach back into the neighborhood, take the first right (a little corner store called Paquitos place) follow down and take the next right you will end up on this dead end street that has access to a great little beach with tide pools and good swimming without the public beach stuff. The beach is endless and has some great hiking as well. 'This is where I take my kids, and avoid the crowds. On the south side of the island, the very southern western tip is a beach called Playa Sucia (dirty beach) I've never been sure why it's called that since it's one of the most pristine beaches in PR. It's little known and almost always empty. Be warned this is no public beach, there are no facilities and you should bring your own shade as there is little to be found. Here is a pic http://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/01/0b/82/67/playa-sucia.jpg In Culebra Flamenco beach is a must see, but it's by no means secluded at any time of the year. But there is another less known and less frequented beach called Zoni. http://culebrablog.com/images/zonibch.jpg Go to Vieques to all the beaches that have only been open to the public for a few years since the closing of the base. You'll need a rental jeep, the roads are deplorable but that's a great thing for those of us who want seclusion, it keeps the masses OUT! Green beach is by far the best, here is a link to some pics http://www.enchanted-isle.com/beaches/green.htm Hope this helps.
- culebra and viequez are the sister islands of PR which the beaches are secluded. culebras its not crowded because there is so many different beaches around these islands that people have the choice to choose many of them. I went to viequez and the beaches were so empty, it also has to do with the season and the days. I recommend you go on week days in spring time, summer time or in the beginning of fall. Avoid weekends and non school days. You have to be very careful not to be in a lonely beach with no people at all, some places can be a risk for tourists and very secluded beaches. This is a target for locals who dont have very good intentions. If I were you I would go to with a group of people of family members, if not then go to a beach were there is stores and shops near with a few people here and there but enough privacy for you and your husband to enjoy.
- caja de muerto is so beutiful and very clean, u need to take a ferry from ponce to get there but thats one of the best beaches in PR
- Definitively Vieques, but you can try early morning in a weekday the lovely beach near el Faro de Cabo Rojo (South west Puerto Rico), that is my all time favorite.
