- kos...its paradise youll love it....
- Cyprus
- Ithaca is probably one of the best islands. it has no airport you have to take a small ferry to it from Kefalonia. there are very few tourists great restaurants and fantastic views from the central hills. there are some amazing small white sand kind of beaches that take a bit of searching but are worth it. if you rent out a small boat there are some beaches that are hidden and are absolutley stunning. The fact that it has no airport is great because it is the last tourist free islands, it is properly greek ie honey and yogurt for breakfast!! When I last went there it was amazing. Hope this helped you!!! trust me its great
- I love Santorini.
- Rhodes....That Is A Lovely Place....=]
- poodge28 has it about right, Ithaca. Nothing to do but chill out
- Preveza - only Greek tourists (avoid Aug- busiest time) but it;s not an island so I would have to say Lefkada - best beaches in Greece!!!!!
- I like Rhodes, Falariki in paticular, beautiful beach.
- hm... why dont you choose a really small island with maximum 50 habitants? You can find this in Arkious or Leipsous small islands near Patmos, you can access them easily. I would suggest also Milos which is a small island in Cyclades. Another suggestion sill Samothraki which is ideal for the Eco Tourists and the island itself is different than the others it provides beautifull scenery and the majority of the tourists are greeks. I like samothraki is not effected by the mass tourism.
- Rhodes is by far the best, as I have visited 4 other islands and Rhodes is by far the friendliest and with a wide variety of things you can do if you wished
- Skyros is the most unspoilt island on the planet. its not easy to get to but if you can find a way i promise you will love it. http://www.greeka.com/sporades/skyros/index.htm
- Siphnos, Milos, Naxos, Paros, and the smaller Kimolos, Schinoussa, Astypalaia.
- Just south of Agios Nikolous on the eastern side of the island of Crete is a place called Istron Bay. It has a beautiful beach which very few tourists frequent. The locals swim there in the hot evenings and are extremely friendly. There are no tavernas nor restaurants on the beach, only yourselves. In the area of Istron there is a taverna called "Zygos". Dimitri the owner, prides himself on serving 100% traditional Greek cuisine and it is cooked and served to a very high standard. ( You should try his Mousaka! It is out of this world!) My wife and I like this area of Crete so much that In February 2008 we are going to live there permanently .
- Paxos and Antipaxos are the two little islands south of Corfu. Both are within the described prerequisites of your question. Below are some links but Google or Yahoo to get more.
- I kos is beautiful and so are the people.. so laid back .The beaches are something else there is a beach called paradise beach ( bubble beach ) because under the sea is a volcano and you see all the bubbles coming up .. The tavernas are lovely so is the food .The beauty of Kos is it`s not as commercialized as most of the Greek islands...
- if you want a quiet holiday you should choose an island like Thasos.itsn't so famous, but it's adorable. Thasos is placed on the northern part of Aegean sea, near to a city named Cavala. it's a really peacefull island, perfect for anybody who wants to relax. there are plenty of beautiful, beaches; you will need a lot of days to visit them, each one has a different beauty!Thasos combines the blue of the sea with the green of the trees and this is why it's such a colorful and fresh island. there are places there, such as Panagia, where you will see a different way of life, more quiet and meet very friendly people. also, there, you can find very nice restaurants, where you can taste many delicious Greek dishes. finally, the prices are very reasonable and the access is easy, you can use a ferry from Cavala, it's about thirty minutes distance. If you finally visit it don't forget to buy honey, it's being produced there!
- Kalymnos has it all and is not nearly as expensive as other isles. Right across from Kos in the south part of the Aegean. Large enough to be interesting and small enough to be fun. I have spent several vacations there and in Kos. I love it there. I Cr 13;8a
- pilio, magnesia ....many unspoilt beautiful beaches(yet),hospitable people ,nice food and the green mountain upon your head...great place
- I have to laugh at some of the answers. The question is "unspoilt" and "quiet" so quite how Kos, Rhodes and Santorini can be described as such is beyond me. They are neither of these things. As someone else has already said, you need to go to the smaller islands - but bear in mind that all of them can get very busy in the high season (August basically, when half of Italy descends on us). I would recommend the smaller Ionian islands of Paxos, Antipaxos and Ithaca; or the most easterly of the Sporades, Alonissos; or my neck of the woods, the northern end of the Dodecanese, Leros, Lipsi, and Patmos. For the absolute ultimate, you could try the little islands of Arki or Marathi to the north of Lipsi. Arki is very quiet, but Marathi has only around a dozen rooms to stay and all the island life is centred around the three tavernas stretched along the beach front. When the generator gets turned off at night - that's it !!
- Sounds like my sort of holiday! We found Skiathos and Kefalonia ideal, lovely tavernas, beautiful uncrowded beaches and lots of boat trips to other small islands-Skiathos we went to Alonossisos and Skopelos, also a trip to Athens and Kefalonia - Zante and Ithaca, Ithaca is really small and quiet but beautiful. Hope you have a lovely time wherever you go.
- Hi, I love Cyprus Protaras area, well Pernera area of Protaras it is quieter, Troodos Mountains are just beautiful and there are some hotels in the mountains they are near Paphos area but beware because if you do go in the mountains it is very quiet.
- lesvos is beautiful & the 'lager louts ' have no ruined it yet.
- Most of the islands mentioned above are very touristy. Trust me, I have experienced them first-hand. The only islands I have been to in Greece that are not touristy but are very beautiful and authentic are Thasos (as mentioned above) and Melos.
