- I have been there last year. I went to this beautiful island north of Cebu called Bantayan Island. It had pristine white beaches and GREAT SEAFOOD! For the fruits, it really depends on where you buy them. If you really do visit Cebu, we bought our fruits from stalls near a hospital. I can't remember the name though. If you wanna find some good friends, you should visit the resorts. Last time I checked, Cebu's music is not different from any other Philippine folk music. Anyway, I hope you have fun when you get there.
- i lived there for two years. people there are hospitable at first. wait a while then they will swindle you the first chance they got. most of them are somewhat traitor, distrustful many are thief and a cliptomaniac. yap nice music beaches and good fruits
- i have lived there for about 3 years( when i took up college), since then i never went there again.. i visited once the island near San Remigio somewhere in Bogo city, it's a nice white sand beach.....
- Cebu is the oldest city in the Philippines, center of trade and industries for central and southern phil since pre-spanish time so that's why most of well known businessman from that place like Shipping owner, Airline owner, Mall owner etc..... Mixed cultures Filipino, Chinese and spanish domonating on that place.
- Its a culturally rich place. The people are more friendly and law-abiding than most other parts of Philippines. It's very well developed in terms of everyday conveniences. There are countless interesting sites to visit on a day trip if you like. My wife tells me that many show biz personalities like to hang out there too. The air is much cleaner than manila and the traffic is tolerable. I highly recommend Cebu to anyone considering a trip to The Philippines.
- Cebu, particularly Mactan, has its share of beautiful white sandy beaches. There is no special culture....only one culture for the whole Filipino. The city is teeming with life, it has become a metropolis outside of Metro Manila. There are malls comparable to the ones in Manila. More hotels and resorts you can ever imagine; there are 5-star hotels/resorts on which to choose from like Cebu Marriott in Ayala Park, Shangrila in Mactan, Waterfront Cebu in Lahug, Waterfront Mactan, Plantation Bay in Mactan etc. As to food, well, lechon or roast pig is famous and the favorite fare often served when there are visitors/guests or balikbayans around. You should try it when you come over. Then, we have our own delicacies like dried mango, otap, rosquillos, danggit (dried fish) and a lot more. Music is no different from what you hear outside the Philippines. It is the same wherever you are in the world. It isn't enough to say anything and everything about Cebu. One must come to see and enjoy what the island has to offer...savor the life of a Cebuano with your friends. Do not entirely believe anything negative they say about the city. All cities/countries for that matter has its share of shady areas, not only peculiar to Cebu.
- The people, for the most part, are extremely warm and friendly. Especially the citizens who live outside of the city of Cebu. You may want to photograph those people.
- i love cebu (well, cebu city anyway, as that is the only part of cebu i have been to yet) cebu city has many places of historical interest such as the oldest church in the phillipines and the oldest university in the phillipines. magellan's cross is in cebu city and on nearby mactan island (near cebu airport) is the statue of lapu-lapu, who is the first national hero of the phillipines (lapu-lapu had a major disagreement with magellan's intention of claiming the phillipines for the king of spain) there are many good restaurants in cebu city and bars with live music. i had a great time in one of the discos (i think it is called mango, there's another disco, or two, in the same area within 100 metres) with my cebuano friends. if you like shopping then the malls in cebu city wont dissappoint you either. the people of cebu (at least the ones that i met) are very warm friendly and hospitable people and very respectful of other cultural nuances. neville's hill offers a great vantage point overlooking the city for photographers and sight-seers. i can hardly wait to return to cebu and explore some more. the bird sanctuary on olango island is a place i'm very keen to visit with my camera, and i've been told that plantation bay is very beautiful too.
- cebu is exactly like that. beautiful place. nice beautiful people.
