What tropical island has minimal tourism and a low number of inhabitants that US citizens can live on?
Looking for a tropical island or subtropical island with tropical waters that is either secluded, not heavily toured or has a low number of inhabitants (relatively speaking). Any ideas? I just want to get away to a secluded area I can put up a hammock and lay on the beach for eternity. oh yeah.. and its not a requirement.. but a beach bar somewhere in the area would be nice.. so I can get some tropical drinks

- Vancouver Island is a very nice island. Canada is the best. We have the best hockey. Hockey is fun! YAY!
- Check out the Azores islands, beautiful off the beaten track gem.
- St. Kitts is a college town kind of island with minimal tourism and a smaller population. Disney has a private island, and despite the tourists, it is very secluded and beautiful. But if you really want to get away from it all, consider buying or renting a private island in the Bahamas. It's expensive, but you'll have the beauty and nature all to yourself for as long as you want. - Guimeras Island in the Philippines. Home of the worlds sweetest fruit (Guimeras Mango).
- Try Haiti. Very little tourists but you might just get eaten by cannibal voodooists.
