Help with sandy beaches please?..........?
Which of the Mediterranean islands has the nicest, small, secluded, SANDY beaches?? holiday brochures and web sites all boast this but on arrival they are quite often pebble/shingle infested, feet killing nightmares!!! (Especially some greek islands)

- kos has good sandy beaches
- try cyprus it is small and you can visit islands by boat for very good beaches.
- I agree Nissi beach Cyprus is the best i have seen and ive been around Europe a fair bit. On a bay like a Lagoon with lovely soft golden sand. Crystal clear water which gently slopes. Great facilities and very clean.
- My friend, you are absolutely right! This is true. But there is an island that is not going to disappoint you, but it doesn't have an extraordinary nightlife! THASSOS!!! I hate beaches and lying under the sun, but the beach of Xrisi Ammos (the most central one of the island) is really UNIQUE!! It is not just sandy, it has a very good quality of sand! Things that Thassos has to offer (appart from the beaches): quiet holidays, beautiful unspoilt nature, ancient remainings, great traditional products such as sweet nut (hmmmm) and honey from Thassos etc etc. Unfortunately it is not the cheapest place you could find. In Greece there are many places with sandy beaches in Mainland, Chalkidiki for example, near Thessaloniki, has extraordinary beaches (well, not everywhere, in Kallithea, Kryopigi, Hanioti, but Afytos for example has a rocky beach). Chalkidiki has a very vivid nightlife, many beaches gathered together, near the airport, nature and sightseing, very good prices for what it offers. Visit Thassos and you will remember me.
- go to protaras or ayia napa in cyprus!! some of the best beaches around, with crystal clear water, its so beautiful! you will think you are in the caribbean! the sand is golden and the water is so clear. its amazing. ive been there and it was so great!!!!!
- Naxos is lovely. Also Andros and Milos.
- Kalamaki Beach on Zakynthos,Greece, is a beauty. No rocks, stones etc. You can walk out to any depth, no waves either just wonderful! I am not a swimmer and loved it.
